Containment Dike Cleaning and Crack Repair

Project

Dow Chemical has many containment areas around the various chemical tanks, loading and mixing areas, these containment areas are referred to as "Dikes." ReNew® Systems was hired to clean these dikes and repair any concrete surface cracks to prevent possible contamination. 

Cleaning 

Apply Shocon emulsifier, power wash with 3000 psi. Brush Blast any noticeable cracks (4) inches each side of crack. If crack opens as blasting, utilize a crack chaser to open crack beyond failure and fill with proper joint compound. 

Preparation of Cracks 

• Brush blast crack or chase crack as mentioned above. 
• Apply concrete primer to blasted surface leaving 1" on each side of blasting line not primed. 
• Apply 45-60 mils of ReNew Flex® Spray 4-6" wide, taking care not to coat beyond primer to help prevent failure. 

Result 

Dikes are cleaned of contaminants, cracks are repaired to prevent leakage and possible ground contamination. Over (2) miles coated to date!
